Hyundai in
Schaumburg
Technicians
walk out and go on strike November 13.
Technicians
working at Patrick Hyundai in Schaumburg have had enough!
After seven months of
negotiations going nowhere they decided to put their tools down
and take a stand for themselves. The dealer, who has three other
Union dealerships (Patrick Cadillac, Saab and Volvo), is no
stranger to the Standard Automotive Agreement as they are
parties to this Agreement at these facilities. This
Agreement covers approximately 2,800 other technicians in the
Chicagoland area. These technicians at Patrick Hyundai are
not asking for
anything more than the other technicians in the area currently
receive. All they are
asking for is the security of a Union contract which includes
guarantees secured by the Union in a contract.
On Friday afternoon
December 7, 2007 mechanics attempted to unconditionally return
to work.
They were told to return the following Monday December 10, 2007.
When they reported to work they were notified
they were LOCKED OUT.
